Italian Out of School Hours Primary Program (OSH)

The OSH program provides students with 37 weeks of quality Italian lessons and a workbook. The program is based on the NSW K-10 syllabus and has been developed by Co.As.It in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education. HSC support classes follow the Stage 6 Italian Syllabuses.

Overview

Students are exposed to a fun and educational experience that allows them to explore the wonders of all things Italian. They participate in competitions, perform in end-of-school year Italian performances and have an opportunity to win a Minister’s Award for Excellence.

Co.As.It. teachers are friendly, dedicated, experienced and approved to teach by the Department of Education - Community Languages Program.

Classes

Classes at Kegworth are organised according to the following levels:

• Primary Classes: Kindergarten to Year 6
• Italian Club: Kindergarten to Year 6

Both classes are open to children currently enrolled in Kindergarten to Year 6. Weekly lessons are held for 2 hours and class sizes range from 10 students to 25 students. The program follows the school terms from February to December.

Italian Club

This course is designed for students who are consistently exposed to the Italian Language and culture and can use it with some proficiency.
Students enrolled in the Italian Club will further develop their communicative skills, knowledge and understanding of Italian and the Italian culture. They initiate interactions in Italian with others to exchange information, ideas and opinions, and collaborate with peers to make choices and arrangements. They locate and classify information from a range of written, spoken, and respond to texts in Italian, using a range of formats for different audiences. They compose texts for a variety of purposes and audiences.
The class is conducted entirely in Italian by a native speaker teacher, the program follows content and topics of The Out of School Hours Program developed by CoAsIt. with focus on reading and writing.
